What is STM ?
STM (Smart Time Manager) is a Java application for quickly and cleverly managing tasks : for each one the user can enter a date or let the application find the most appropriate, function of the daily free time.
Features :
The typical Smart Time Manager end-user is a person who needs to manage his time easily function of daily constraints such as meals duration, washing duration, and the free time he wants to have.
For each task the user can choose a date, or enter a deadline and let the application do it. In this case, Smart Time Manager searches the first date with enough free time to add the task before the deadline. If not possible the user has to change the deadline and/or the duration, or enter a date himself.
In case of conflict, tasks for which the user entered the date have higher priority than tasks for which the date was decided by the application.
Respecting the above rules, STM enables the user to :
- Add a task entering its topic, a brief description, its duration, and a date or a deadline if he wants to let the application choose the date.
- Modify a task. The date changes (manually or automatically) if necessary.
- Delete a task.
- List the tasks and their properties.
- List the days and their tasks. The can print this list.
- Configure the daily constraints, such as the washing duration, meals duration, bedtime,...
STM can be executed both on Linux and Windows. For this reason STM is a Java cross-platform software with a Graphical User Interface developed with Swing.
The tasks are saved in a .stm file, easily editable by the user.
STM is localized only in English for now, but will surely be translated into French later.
Where can you find STM ?
STM is in development yet, but I invite you to visit the STM project page. You'll find the first releases, the source code, some documentation, forums, and all kind of useful stuff !
What about the developper ?
My name is Thomas Gallinari, I'm 20 and I've been studying computer science engineering for three years now at the IUP ISI in Toulouse in France. I've been developing STM for a few months, from an idea of my father. I can work on it only a few hours every week, so don't worry if the project seems inactive for some time.
You can contact me at the following e-mail : tijee@users.sourceforge.net. You can also visit the STM project page in order to report bugs or take part in forum discussions.
